You may not think you’re a poet. You may think your prayers brief or stilted. Nevertheless, if you’re reading this, your heart beats in tune with the rhythms of the Earth. You feel her struggle and her strength. You love her.
Lynn Johnson and I, as co-editors of Poems & Prayers for the Earth invite and welcome your submissions. Letting feelings and longings flow onto paper is not just an exercise to help support this important IREJN project, it’s a gift of healing and renewal for yourself and others.
All profits from Poems & Prayers for the Earth are for the benefit of IREJN and its mission of interreligious collaboration to educate and inspire ecological responsibility. Submitting to this project does not guarantee publication. Nevertheless, every whispered word of love for our planet adds to the constant cycle of shared strength.
Consider allowing your vulnerable truth to be told.
To submit a poem or prayer for consideration, please send your Word document (with your name, phone number and email address at the bottom of the page) as an attachment to me, Jeanne C. Folks, email@example.com
Stay tuned for information regarding our one day poetry writing workshop being planned for the Spring at Wisdom House!
Here’s a brief sample wisely said at the New Year:
Remember Who You Are
The whole world is sacred,
O Holy One,
a creation of beauty and wonder;
You breathe and there is life.
May we regain a sense of
to remember who we are –
called to care for life,
to pass on
blessing not curse,
life not death.
