I want to personally invite you to a celebratory Concert starring soprano Terea Eickel on the afternoon of April 2, 2016 from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of West Hartford. The occasion is the 20th Anniversary of Center for Serenity and the presentation of the 15th Serenity Award. Terri’s thrilling voice, her work in environmental justice, and her brave recovery from cancer has inspired us to choose her for this honor. Terri has been acting as the Director of the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network, as well as performing various opera leads all across the United States and beyond. At this concert, Terri will be accompanied by acclaimed pianist David Shrzanowski. Together, they will perform selections from various opera, Broadway, and spirituals. Come hear the beauty and power of Terri’s amazing voice!
Prior to the concert, from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm, visit displays of some of our prior Serenity Award recipients. Our Connecticut State Troubadour Kate Callahan, young people from Project LIGHT:Hartford, Board members of IREJN, as well as several other organizations of service to the community will be present. There will be a reception following the concert at 4:00 pm.
This will be the last Serenity Award given, as the Center for Serenity will be laid down as a non-profit at the end of 2016. Thank you for all the love you’ve shown us through these 20 years. I’ll still continue to teach meditation, EFT, and to see individuals and couples that seek me for help, as well as be the adult advisor to ProjectLIGHT:Hartford, kids helping kids!
Our last event on April 2 is a fundraiser for IREJN, inspiring religious communities in Connecticut to be faithful stewards of the Earth. At Terri’s request, it will also benefit Rev. Chuck Redfern, who is recovering from cancer, and the sole support for his family. A donation of $15-$20 is suggested for attendance at Terri’s concert. Please buy tickets here!
In love and peace,
Lynn Johnson, Director of the Center for Serenity
