Outreach Coordinator
The Interreligious Eco-Justice Network seeks a part-time (15-20 hours/week) Outreach Coordinator for our Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy program, which will involve working with houses of worship to help them achieve their energy efficiency and clean energy goals.
The Outreach Coordinator will work with the Executive Director to develop and manage a statewide effort to encourage and assist houses of worship with their efforts to reduce their greenhouse gas and pollution emissions through energy efficiency and clean energy programs. The Outreach Coordinator will:
- Manage a database of houses of worship that are currently engaging in energy efficiency and/or clean energy projects.
- Identify houses of worship that have not yet engaged an energy efficiency program and perform outreach, with a specific focus on rural and urban low-income communities
- Assist houses of worship participating in state and federal energy efficiency and clean energy programs
- Conduct engagement efforts and build relationships with regional, statewide, or religious organizations to strengthen the network of faith communities concerned about climate change and environmental justice
- Perform on-site visits with religious and lay leadership; offer educational programs when requested for the congregation
- Assist the Executive Director with grants to support IREJN’s Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy work.
This is a non-exempt position. We anticipate this position to last for at least one year, renewable for a 2nd year.
This position is hourly with a $20/hour rate.
Hours are flexible, but some weekend hours will be required.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have strong experience or education in all of these areas, but we understand and expect that they will have deeper knowledge in some areas than others.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Experience in managing a regional or statewide project, including identifying prospects, performing outreach, and supporting projects as needed.
- Experience in working with a religious community (working in an interfaith capacity would be a plus)]
- Experience in the environmental sector, especially in the areas of climate change or energy
- Spanish-speaking would be a plus
