Let There Be Light: A Green Forum on Solar Power

Join us for a 90-minute forum on solar for houses of worship on Sunday, Sept 15 to learn how your house of worship can switch to clean renewable energy. Our keynote speaker will be Sena Wazer, Co-Director of Communications for the Sunrise Movement CT. An inspiring high school student, Sena will speak about the climate crisis and why we need to act. She will be joined by David Desiderato from the CT Fund for the Environment, who will speak about community shared solar, and Jeff Howard from the Unitarian Society of Hartford, who led his church’s successful effort to install solar. Drowning in Plastic: A Green Forum on Plastic Pollution

Join us for a 90-minute forum on plastics on Tuesday, September 24 at Higganum Congregational Church. We will view a 22-minute version of “A Plastic Ocean,” an award-winning documentary on the impact of plastics on our ocean. We will also hear about the plastic pollution in CT’s rivers, recycling efforts, upcoming state legislation to regulate single-use plastic, and the moral imperative for addressing this issue.

Reality, Hope, & Action in an Age of Climate Change

Let’s start talking honestly about climate change. Instead of staying stuck in a state of paralysis and denial, how can we face reality while still finding hope and a sense of purpose to take action? Join us for a 90-minute forum to hear leaders from different communities speak about why they got involved in fighting climate change, how they stay engaged, and their vision for the future.
Our keynote speaker is Rev. Margaret Bullit-Jonas, Missioner for Creation Care, MA Conference, United Church of Christ & the Episcopal Diocese of Western MA. She will be joined by Jameelah Muhammed, from Sierra Club & IREJN, and Juliana Barrett from CT Sea Grant. Please RSVP here.
