Thursday, July 25, 2024 – IREJN hosted Susan Rudolph, Greenwich Sustainability Committee, and Dr. Trey John Rogers III, Michigan State University for a webinar on the dangers of artificial turf, and the installation and maintenance of grass playing fields. Mrs. Rudolph discussed the environmental and health threats posed by artificial turf, as well as the significant cost associated with it. Dr. Rogers presented on his work and research in successful techniques to implement and care for grass playing fields so that they can absorb water from rainfall and maintain high level of quality for extensive playing time.
